selling heaters in trivandrum

big bazaar opened without much fanfare in trivandrum last week. i went there along with A on a short visit last week, but couldn't see much of it. so yesterday, i went there with my parents. it's grand, resembling the huge big bazaars that i've seen at bangalore on my numerous visits there to see my chechi n jeejuji (ettan), and had escalators, a thing i hadn't seen b4 in big bazaars... i read somewhere that palakkad big bazaar also has them.

and there was the crowd.... my dad commented on it as a permanent exhibition that has opened in the city... it was fun, seeing all those stuff 'food bazaar', 'fashion bazaar', 'accessories' and all written meticulously in malayalam also...

roaming around, we came to the 'electronics bazaar' and kept there was, ROOM HEATER!!!! how can anyone think of selling one in trivandrum? who is going to buy them? when it's already sweltering hot tht u can't stand even at 33-35 degrees, all round the year, who's going to take pains in buying a room heater so that they can make themselves warm? well, one thing is, it's pretty cheap, somewhere around 1500... so ppl may buy it, those kinds who don't think what they are doing, and buy what they do not want....

market research by big bazaar also needs to come to kerala... not just the big bazaars... or are there people who buy heaters just in case it rains heavily and it goes freezing cold????

i really appreciate the opening of BigBazar at Trivandrum. But it would be better if the BIG BAZAR groups train their staffs to be polite with the customers. at present most of the staffs here(especially the watchmen and those info ppl) keep up the standard of those standing at LOCAL shops.

Indeed, there is such a problem. it might b due to the fact that a shop of such a scale and expectations is a 1st in the city. it ll take some time for ppl to get the rt attitude to work in such places, how much soever training they r given. i'm not sure abt the training, tho! anyway, thanx for the comment...

I would say that the place they chose for Big Bazar isn't the right one. Parking is a big issue. They don't have the godown near by. So if you need to order a furnitue, it will take atleast 2 weeks for the delivery. Anyway three cheers for the inititative.

Hi ,
I really appreciate the opening of big bazaar and we went the shop at kesvadasapuram all weekends with our kids from the very first week they opened here. But we had a very bad experience from the customer care (?) lady when my sister and family came for their vacations from us.They purchased for more than 25000 rs and we had to change a dress to the next size within 2 hours. My sister was ready to pay more if the next size costs more. But the customer care lady at that time was not at all polite and she argued that the change cannot be done today .My sister had to move to kochi the next day morning itself and we tried to explain her.But she did not care it as she has to do many more things than a customer's feelings or happiness. After us three more people also came there with their complaints. That lady was argueing to each and every person. When we mentioned about talking to their manager she finally decided to help us.This happened in 2007. After this incident we never went to big bazaar. Two of my neighbours also had such bad experience from the same customer care lady.I don't think big bazaar will be affected by our decisions ,but surely this is a badmark for such a prestigious group. When I saw the comments about big bazaar here I thought I must write this
